It is such an amazing honour to learn that something I’ve said or written in my work has encouraged others to take action, make their own version or improve on my thinking.
I really believe that the purpose conversation about education needs to be opened up to all of the stakeholders of our public education systems and that includes teachers, parents and learners. Why do we do what we do? Why are we doing this? I can’t think of a more important aspect of society that is more important that ask and answer these questions of, than education.
It really does seem amongst many organisations whether they are schools, governments, parent bodies or suppliers that the answer is “to pass tests”. Surely this can not be schools purpose?
There is something I’ve added to my original statement on the purpose of education which was to answer the question “why?”. To which I’ve stated, “For the benefit of all”.
